Alcatel-Lucent was a sponsor of TETRA World Congress 2012 in Dubai. TETRA WC 2012 is the meeting place of the Critical Communications community and TETRA users. Alcatel-Lucent had a strong presence at this event with 4 speaking slots and a booth where we disclosed and demonstrated very innovative solutions for the public safety industry.

Paris-headquartered Alcatel-Lucent published its Q4 2011 and Full Year 2011 results simultaneously this morning. They were in line with earlier guidance and the company posted a Q4 net profit of €868 million, up massively from the €340 million reported for the same period a year ago thanks to a one-off tax benefit accrual of €353 million. However, revenues were significantly down year-on-year. Martyn Warwick reports. (2)

In a New Year interview with the French financial newspaper, Les Echos, Alcatel-Lucent's CEO, Ben Verwaayen, nailed his colours to the mast in no uncertain terms, stating that there won't be deep staff cuts of the sort made at Nokia Siemens Networks (NSN) because "we have quickly turned towards the network technologies of the future".
