PALO ALTO, Calif. -- HP today announced that it has integrated application probe capabilities from Qosmos into HP DRAGON, the company’s data retention solution that helps telecom companies and law enforcement agencies fight terrorism and organized crime. As a part of the HP Investigation portfolio, HP DRAGON (Data Retention and Guardian Online) enables communications service providers (CSPs) and governments to collect communications data and content in support of investigation efforts into serious crimes.
In many countries, there are mandates that require CSPs to collect massive volumes of data on phone calls, messaging, and Internet usage, retain it for years, and then retrieve selected data when requested by law enforcement agencies.
The integration of Qosmos Network Intelligence probes broadens the already strong data collection capabilities in HP DRAGON.
HP DRAGON collects data at the network device level through the HP Internet Usage Manager, but with the Qosmos probes, it can now collect data directly from the network in real time. This enables CSPs to collect data more efficiently, especially if the network is complex, if it is undergoing change, or if there is data from over-the-top services (web, chat) that is available only in the network.
