European Internet rights survive another vote

The famous amendment 138 has survived to fight another day. In what observers are claiming as a 'surprise' vote (funny they all seem to be surprises these days) the European Parliament voted through the Telecoms Package on its second reading, including the amendment which rules out non-judicial disconnection from the Internet, writes Ian Scales

That measure was originally introduced (then monkeyed about with) to stop national governments pushing through draconian legislation on file downloading - such as the French '3 strikes' HADOPI bill.
