ZTE claims Software Defined Radio first for HSPA+

Chinese vendor ZTE and Hong Kong mobile operator CSL, have announced what's described as the world's first SDR-based (Software Defined Radio) HSPA+ commercial network. It's capable of smooth transition to LTE, they claim. Ian Scales reports.

The companies claim the new Hong Kong network will be capable of downloads of up to 21Mbit/s and they say it's probably the fastest 3G commercial network yet.
