Survey shows a major shift as consumers plan to cut back on phone use to save money, reports Leila Makki.

According to a new survey by New Millennium Research Council,  two out of five Americans or 60 million consumers are considering cutting back on their contract-based phone expenditure, if the economy gets worse over the next six months.

So many people can save substantial amounts of money by looking at their cell phone spending with a critical eye. Bloated and restrictive cell contracts should have been a thing of the past long ago. Yet people still fall for the fancy phones with all the bells 'n whistles, signing two year contracts for a service they could be paying less for if they went prepaid. Oh well, my prepaid is working well for me and in the last year I saved roughly $450 with NET10 compared to the year before while on contract.
