Qualcomm wins patent squabbles

Qualcomm has won two victories in its ongoing patent battles with Broadcom and Tessera.

A US Court of Appeals for the Federal Circuit judgement  this week kicked back a lower court's decision to render a pair of h.264 patents unenforceable in all contexts as overly broad.

The panel agreed that Qualcomm was wrong not to disclose the patents when it joined the forum responsible for the video standard but said the patents should only be unenforceable with regard to h.264 products.
