The world's largest software company and the world's fourth-largest handset maker have signed a Memorandum of Understanding for continued strategic collaboration in R&D, marketing, applications, and services in the field of converged mobile devices.
Microsoft chief executive Steve Ballmer, during a breakfast meeting with South Korean business leaders in Seoul, outlined that aggressive growth through investment was the answer for companies struggling during the economic downturn.
"At the end of the day, the only way to really move forward is to continue to push new technology, new products and new innovations that have the opportunity to help all of our customers, improve businesses, their lives, and reduce cost," he said.
Ballmer also underlined that Microsoft did not plan to cut back on investment amid an expected slowdown of the global economy. He also praised South Korean tech companies for possessing a "leading edge" in the global technology market and expressed his wish to partner with more South Korean companies in the future.
Microsoft chief executive met with Nam Yong, head of LG Electronics, earlier in the day and signed a memorandum of understanding where LG will start using Windows Mobile for more of its handsets.
