Netflix adds CBS and Disney to the programme: more content less hegemony?

Netflix, the first of its kind online DVD rental service, revolutionised the video rental space simply by recognising the synergy between the Internet and the American living room. Now it has made a landmark deal with major US TV networks, CBS and Disney-ABC, and has nosed ahead in the rip-snorting webertainment race.

The deal fortifies Netflix already powerful brand with streaming programming from two of the most popular US content producers. The shows are aimed at the young demographic - the one that embraces online TV and drives its growth.

The site currently offers fairly convenient TV/PC access to approximately 12,000 programming choices included at a monthly cost of between US$8.99 to US$16.99 for up to three videos per household per day, ostensibly with no monthly limit.
