Femto on a roll claims trade body

Femtocells are a great idea – by providing a non-radio channel back into the network from the user’s home (or small office) they theoretically take load off the operator’s wireless and backhaul networks and they enable that operator to compete on broadband access.

But to really fly, the femtocell residential application needs progress on standards if the equipment is to become commoditised and interoperable.

The Femto Forum claims it’s made some important strides towards this happy state by agreeing to adopt a singe common approach.
