Celtel International, a subsidiary of Zain has just announced the extension of the world’s first borderless mobile phone network that covers an area more than twice the size of the European Union.

Celtel will connect over 400 million people in 12 countries across a borderless mobile network called, ‘One Network’ in countries including Burkina Faso, Chad, Malawi, Niger, Nigeria and Sudan, Republic of Congo, the Democratic Republic of Congo, Gabon, Kenya, Tanzania and Uganda.

The pan-African mobile network claims that over two million people are already using the borderless network. Zain Group CEO Dr Saad Al Barrak said, “The innovation behind and the expansion of the world’s first borderless mobile phone network is a reflection of our dedication to the African continent and its people.
