United Arab Emirates operator Etisalat announced a foray into the regional capacity market with a new global “Carrier and Wholesale” unit, which offers a host of international services and broadband capacity to operators across the Middle East and worldwide.
These services are said to include voice, internet and a complete range of mobile and value-added services. Etisalat says the offering is expected to lessen dependence of operators in the Middle East on European and US carriers to expand their worldwide reach.
“Previously, the region's operators have been somewhat dependant upon European and North America carriers to extend their global reach. Etisalat’s Carrier & Wholesale services has created a voice, data and mobile service hub in the UAE, to broaden their choice, to include a provider that has a deep understanding of the unique nature of their requirements. We are delighted to be working with our strategic partners around the world to deliver comprehensive global solutions to our valued customers and subsidiaries,” said Ali Ameeri, Executive Vice President, Carrier and Wholesale for Etisalat.
To date, Etisalat operates across 15 countries including Nigeria, Afghanistan, Benin, Burkina Faso, Central African Republic, Ivory Coast, Egypt, Gabon, Ghana, Niger, Zanzibar, Sudan, Saudi Arabia, the UAE and Pakistan.
