TorrentSpy cuts off the US

There was a famous headline run by The Times newspaper in Britain back in 1905. It read, with typical English aplomb, "Fog in Channel. Continent isolated." Now, 102 years later, something similar has happened with an Internet company, and a Dutch portal has cut off the United States of America

The peer-to-peer site TorrentSpy has sundered all access to it by American users rather than hand its server logs to US authorities. The decision is a victory for BitTorrent users but denies US fans access to one of the largest torrent sites online.

US judges had previously ordered the Dutch company to expose its user histories to the Motion Picture Association of America in order to aid the latter's search for content pirates.
